Who Are We

The Hong Kong Autism Alliance (HKAAA) is an independent group consisting of parents, volunteers and professional with the aim to promote the public awareness and acceptance toward people with autism. HKAAA is first established in 2nd April 2008 in Hong Kong to coincide with the First World Autism Awareness Day proposed by the United Nations. We work together with local organizations in organizing the Annual Hong Kong Autism Awareness Week (HKAAW) in the first week of April annually.

The HKAAW was first organized in 2004 by a group of organizations and individuals in Hong Kong. Each year we will organize different types of activities to promote public awareness and acceptance toward people with autism. In 2007, we started a “Open up yourself, Care & Concern” project in mainstream primary schools. The project aimed at enhancing better understanding on children with autism, fostering communication and cooperation among teachers and parents. The theme of the project is self-advocacy.
